The Canadian HIV Parenting Planning Guidelines (CHPPGs)

The objective of the Canadian HIV Parenting Planning Guidelines (CHPPGs) is to provide clinical information and recommendations for health care providers to assist Canadians affected by HIV with their fertility, preconception, and pregnancy planning decisions. These guidelines offer recommendations that are evidence- and community-based, flexible, and take into account the diverse, intersecting needs at the local and population levels based on the social determinants of health. At a community-level, the CHPPGs actively supports pathways to parenthood for people living with HIV, offering guidance to understand and uphold reproductive rights in the pursuit of building a family.

The CHPPGs are highly relevant to the mission of the WCHC Hub in improving health outcomes for women and gender diverse people living with HIV, and the CHPPG group continues to be a close community partner and collaborator of the Hub. Their work in broadening the resources available, and their accessibility, for all Canadians living with HIV who are interested in parenthood.
